Conservation hubFaces a very high risk of extinction in the wild.
Northern royal albatrosses face threats from bycatch in fisheries and introduced predators on their breeding islands. Conservation efforts have focused on reducing fishing mortality and controlling predators, showing some promise in stabilizing populations. Responsible tourism can help by supporting conservation initiatives and raising awareness about the importance of protecting these magnificent birds and their fragile island habitats.
The northern royal albatross or toroa, is a large seabird in the albatross family. It was split from the closely related southern royal albatross as recently as 1998, though not all scientists support that conclusion and some consider both of them to be subspecies of the royal albatross.
