Faces an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild.

The Sunda pangolin is critically endangered primarily due to illegal poaching for its scales and meat, and habitat loss. While specific recovery programs are challenging due to the species' elusive nature, increased awareness and anti-poaching efforts are crucial. Responsible safari tourism can help by supporting local communities and conservation initiatives, and by providing a non-lethal economic incentive to protect wildlife, including pangolins, from illegal trade.

The Sunda pangolin, also known as the Malayan or Javan pangolin, is a species of pangolin. It is a member of the Manidae family. Its English name comes from the Malay name pëngulin, which means "roller".
